Hot off the Press!

It’s been a while since I last checked in with you, since I’ve been really busy working on producing the catalog for the Threads of Resistance traveling exhibit with my daughter Indigo. We put in many hours designing, and producing the artwork, editing photos and sending it off to print, but now I’m happy to say you can order a copy of your own today!

It is 8″ x 10″ and 132 full color pages with large photos and artist statements for all the pieces.

Buy it now on Amazon for $18.

Craft Napa 2018

I also want to tell you that I’ll be teaching at Craft Napa next January. This year, I have a new class on the roster and two of my classes will be 9 hours long. 6 hours can be a little tight for some of my classes, as you know if you’ve taken classes with me before, my classes are packed with techniques and information. Instead of working over 2 days, I’ve asked Pokey if I could teach them as 9 hour classes, so it wont take away from other workshop opportunities students may want to take advantage of.

Here’s my line up:

THURSDAY Blessings in the Wind: mixed media prayer flags – 9 hours (6 hours during the day and 3 hours in the evening after dinner)

.

FRIDAY Tea, Thermofax and Ephemera – 6 hours
.

SATURDAY My brand NEW class, Blooming Inspiration -9 hours
Learn how to find the positive by painting the negative in this fun exploratory painting class using floral imagery as inspiration. I will teach you how to create visually complex patterned imagery using acrylic inks and a variety of easy stamping and masking techniques.

.

  1. Did you catch this from the BBC site? It made me sigh with a mixture of sadness and disgust. Sadness over these people trying to ruin peoples’ livelihoods and disgust that they try to hide their identities. That tells me they know what they are doing is wrong and in their hearts they are rightly ashamed of themselves.

    • yes, I did see that and listened to the broadcast. I found that story interesting because it shows the quilting community to be a microcosm of politics in America right now. I know our group was targeted by them when we announced our call for entries for Threads of Resistance back in February. I recognized several of the names on the outed list as people who made troll like remarks on my posts and others in our group on Facebook, threatening that we were doing something illegal tax wise by donating all profits to the charities of our choice, etc. We have proceeded with extra caution in everything we’ve done with this exhibit, consulting lawyers, creating a LLC, etc. because of this kind of backlash. It’s very sad that they feel so much anger and hatred to want to hurt others livelihoods because they have different views.

  2. Your work on the Threads of Resistance catalogue is absolutely wonderful. One of my daughters ask to take a photo of the cover do that she could post it on the Facebook page of Our Revolution North County San Diego. I said that I would need to inquire to see if we could have permission to do this. Sure would appreciTe your feedback on her request.

    • Hi Linda,

      absolutely!

she could always just share the link that comes from Amazon, that gives a great image of the cover and a built in link for purchasing the catalog, but it’s totally fine to share the cover only too. Happy to get the word out about the exhibit 🙂
