Woo hoo, let the fun times begin!
I love going to International Quilt Festival, Houston, this is my 15th straight year!
My first trip was in 1997, the year I moved to Austin, I didn’t know a soul, but I felt inspired and knew I’d be back the next year. ‘Houston’ became an annual slumber party with my art quilt group from Austin, it was a chance for us to have a weekend away from the family and get our fill of inspiration and creativity, which always included wine, chocolate, tarot cards and late night craft projects.
Many of my closest friends are people I met over the years attending this amazing convention. It’s hard to find a show with more exhibits, vendors, classes and opportunities to meet other like minded souls, it’s BIG. If you love making quilts and haven’t been, you should try to do it at least once.
Honestly, one of my incentives to begin teaching was to find a way to pay for my trip each year, lol. I won’t lie, It’s hard work teaching multiple all day classes, but I love it. I’m happy to share what I’ve learned over the years, because I believe when there’s an environment of sharing we all grow.
I hope I see you there!
