Painting Done!

arbol+painted1 Painting Done!
This is going to be my next quilt “Arbol de Vida”, (tree of life in spanish). I was inspired by those beautiful wood carved painted animals that come from Oaxaca Mexico. This quilt will be aproximately five feet square. it is whole cloth painted (white) cotton.

Another beauty! I love the curves in the tree and the animals fitted in the spaces around it. This quilt has so much life.

You finished the painting of this fast! I really like how the black background just makes the vibrant colors ‘pop’! This is a fairly big size! I dont envy you the quilting of it.Beautiful and so full of meaning.

Gorgeous! I just wanted you to know that Primordial Sea is featured in the December issue of AEP’s (Asociación Española de Patchwork, the Spain’s quilting guild) magazine. I received it last week and went like: OHHH! I know that quilt! I looks like, after being completely devoted to traditionnal quilting (this is still an emerging craft here, it must have started about 10 years ago or so), it is slowly considering Art Quilts as well…
Keep up with the good work (and sharing it with your “audience”)!

Beautiful. Stunning. Inspiring. And my daughter loves the fingerless glove you made…luckily, I don’t know how to knit very well :-).

Ah, Judy! I adore this quilt. It is so colorful and stylized and vibrant with life and color. When it is quilted I know the work will come alive. I like the trapunto idea and the black background is so cool. Thanks for the preview. And I enjoyed the pottery flash. Such lovely quiltlike textures. …Thank you for the beauty!

This is such a beautiful tree! I love the colors and all the different curvy animals.

(I found your site via Pixie Post. I didn’t realize until I scrolled down quite a bit, that you’re the fabulous artist who did the “Martian lady” quilt. Great!)

  8. Judy… another winner! I love the fluidity of the animals… I may have to do another wholecloth, though whether with dye, paint or both is the question. Probably not this year, too much on my plate, but this is definite inspiration!
    Cheers, SARAH
