Stringing beads

pend+necklace+det1 Stringing beadsI have accumulated quite a few beads from various quilt and bead shows over the years. Often they sit in bins for a long time before I get around to using them. I think it is challenging to string beads well, the individual beads are so beautiful, but it can be tricky to combine them together in a pleasing way. I am in such awe of people who do it well.

pendant+det Stringing beadsThis morning I wanted to string a necklace with a pendant I unearthed as I cleaned off my table this week. It has been sitting on my table for at least a year.

As I’ve gotten older I have begun wearing red, a color I never felt comfortable in when I was younger and more introverted. Maybe red is a color that demands some confidence and life experience, lol.red+necklace+det Stringing beadsI haven’t had any red jewelry, until now.

I think you did a great job stringing! Love the first photo! I have some of those same beads.

  2. Thanks Stacy! I think my biggest challenge is having restraint and not putting in too many colors.

These are great!! For one of my dresses I had to do for a project for school, I draped a Grecian style dress, and used their concept of using beading and jewelery to accentuate folds/drapes. There is a picture I put on my blog of the dress. It doesn’t have the beading on it. I will have it on soon. But I got a beading kit, and a bunch of beads, plus a few things/beads that I have collected as well.. It is hard to do. and I praise your work! Those are some groovy pieces. I hope you do more.

Judy; I voted you a blogger award! check out my blog where you can copy the award to your site if you like.

  5. I’m absolutely delighted to learn that you have cool things like that pendant that sit on your table for at least a year. I thought that was my own club. I think you’ve made my day! (and the necklace is lovely — I especially like the square beads)

I adore your necklaces. They are so skilfully combined. And you will look gorgeous in the right shade of red! Perhaps the one of the large beads?

Love your comment about wearing red! I never wore it either and suddenly I not only have a flaming red Tshirt…I threw on a big black patch and appliqued a giant red poppy on it!!!

  8. Those are fabulous!! You have quite a collection, and I’m glad to hear that things sit around on other people’s desks for a year! Everything comes forth in its own time…

  9. The necklaces sure are hits! Funny how we can throw fabrics together with ease, but give us a different medium and we hesitate. I think you did well on these 2!
I really like the mix you came up with instead of singling out the pendant, which is very interesting all on it’s own. Is it stone?
