The Joy of Moleskine

yhst 71326348041790 1942 581604 The Joy of MoleskineFor the last couple years I have not understood what the big woop about these books were until I recently bought one myself. Now I am completely hooked. I bought a Japanese pocket accordion notebook. It is 3.5 x 5.5 inches and unfolds into a long sheet.

I have been doing little fantasy drawings of plant and animal hybrids, inking them with a waterproof pen and coloring/painting them with watercolor pencils. I have now bought two more different types to try out. I originally thought these books were a little pricey, but these books are worth every penny. I want more, more more…

  1. Judy: you’re illustrations are wonderful. I like the fish in the bird mask, especially. I think I know just how he feels.

What kind of waterproof pen are you using? (As if that tidbit of information would make my drawings look ANYTHING like yours.I can dream……can’t I?)

  2. Thanks :)

One of my favorite pens is theTech-liner drawing pen by Alvin. It comes in a variety of nib sizes and is truly permanent.

Judy, one of my friends, who is an artist took a course at the Portland Art School a long time ago to learn how to make accordion books, and she showed me. I am not an artist, but use mine for photos.

Your work is very beautiful and that book is a treasure.

  8. Your drawings are wonderful – you might think about being a book illustrator! Delightful with a sense of wonder to them!
