Home is where the heart is

I’ve been crazy busy the last few weeks getting ready for my trip to Australia and unfortunately didn’t have time to do a new tutorial for the sketchbook challenge blog, but in keeping with The Houses and Hideaways theme I thought I’d post of a few pics of some of the houses I’ve made.

I’ve lived in many places; Maine, Massachusetts, Guatemala, Northern California, Southern California, Texas, and Illinois, in a variety of houses, apartments and even a loft in a hundred year old brick factory and each of these places became home to me.

The concept of home has been on my mind a lot over the last several years. What makes a place a home?

I realize for me the common denominator has been having loved ones in my life in each place.

I love living in Sacramento with my two (young adult) kids, and living closer to my parents again. Although Sacramento is still relatively new to me, it has really begun to feel like home, especially now that there’s a great guy in my life who holds a special place in my heart.

I’ll miss my home and loved ones while I’m away, but I know I have lots of adventures in store for me down under and I’ll be sharing them here as often as I can. Keep posted mates!
