Meeting up with Phil in Auckland

At the crack of dawn on a Monday morning, I jumped on a plane in Palmerston North and flew an hour and a half north to Auckland where I met up with Phil, who had just arrived from the states an hour earlier.

We took a city bus from the airport to my friend Kerry’s apartment on the north side of Auckland.

After Phil and I got settled we ventured out in Kerry’s car over to Takapuna beach to have lunch at a cafe and take a long walk on the beach.

At low tide you can see black stumps from a forest that became carbonized during fossilization when it was engulfed in lava.

Waka/canoes filled with paddler teams glide through the water in front of Rangitoto island.

Inspiration time, look at that gorgeous bright green seaweed!

After a light dinner and a good nights rest, we packed the car the next morning and hit the road for Tauranga. In that post, I’ll share about a cool hike through an old gold mining area, and a breath taking walk around the base of a volcano.

Keep creating,

Judy

  1. I absolutely love the bright green seaweed! Your photos are all a wonderful, soothing balm to the restrictions we are in right now. Thank you for sharing them. A walk on a beautiful beach (vicariously) has made my day! Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay home. Save a life…

    • thanks Barbara! I find looking at photos of family and travels to be very helpful right now. In fact a few years ago I started uploading photos into my Amazon account and have them set to shuffle for a screensaver when watching Fire tv. It’s just the best for calming frayed nerves and making us smile.

      • The visual arts–truly amazing companions in this time of uncertainty and dispair. Thanks again.
