As I prepare to drive to Redding this morning I wanted to pull together the last of my post about my trip to San Luis Obispo to teach 10+ Techniques with Acrylic Inks. I’ve been facebook friends with Janet Mease for a number of years, so it was really fun to meet her face to face and teach a workshop at her very cool quilting and long arm shop SLO Creative Studios.
We spent two days experimenting and playing, making lovely textured colorful backgrounds that we then applied layers of paint and imagery in a number of different ways.

While I was teaching in San Luis Obispo, I stayed with a very good friend of mine from my early teen years when I lived in Maine. Sue and I saw each other 2 years ago for the first time in 28 years when Phil and I were driving up highway 1 from Santa Barbara to Monterrey and we stopped and had lunch in Avila beach where she lives.
Avila Beach is ever so conveniently located 10 miles south of San Luis Obispo.
Those shiny black things on the dock out there are seals! They were having quite the party, repeatedly jumping off the dock into the water, barking and creating quite the commotion.
Sue and I walked to the end of the pier to a little restaurant for a glass of wine and catch up on the last 30 years of our lives. Be still my heart, this place has a squid door handle, octopus chandeliers and succulents. 
Under the pier were at least 30 seals lounging in different spots, with the occasional verbose youth barking and antagonizing his soporific mates. They were so funny and cute and a little stinky, they obviously eat lots of fish.
Now it’s time for me to put my suitcase in the car and hit the road for the Quilters Sew-Ciety of Redding, California. My next post will be on my trip to Denver.
