And since she’s bringing me all that way and I have a couple free days in my schedule, she has arranged an opportunity for me to teach 2 more painting classes in Canberra before the textiles show!
These will be full day classes with morning and afternoon tea along with a light lunch. If it’s anything like what she arranged last September in Canberra, it’s sure to be fabulous!!!
Spend a day exploring surface design techniques: create colorful textured backgrounds,
explore mark making with different kinds of stamps, and drawing with quill and ruling pens. Explore layering washes of color and imagery,
This class is packed with tips and ideas of different ways to work with these versatile inks on fabric. Here are links to a couple past 2 day Acrylic inks classes: La Grange, TX and Brisbane, AU and a video from an acrylic inks class in action at IQF Houston.
While working with textile paints, students learn techniques for creating smooth gradations of color, glazing paint to create more visual depth, covering large areas and backgrounds smoothly, avoiding blotchiness, control paint bleeding, how to working with freezer paper masks, and paint smooth lines and fine details.
This is an information packed class geared to help students gain confidence painting on fabric for art quilting.

2-4 May, I will be teaching 3 classes at The Creative Textile Show in Canberra.
Learn how to make beautiful designs with dimension and texture on aluminium. Create embossed patterns and imagery, discover several methods to add colour and work with pre coloured aluminium sheets. Finished pieces can be stitched into art quilts, mixed media or used in tags, pages, cards and more. Easy, relaxing and fun!
Images will be provided so there’s no need to stress about artistic skill levels here, I’ll teach you everything you need to know to paint beautiful imagery with these Inks. Tsukineko All Purpose Inks are permanent when heat set with an iron and do not change the hand of the fabric.
These are three hour classes, so if you want the whole Tsukineko Inks experience sign up for both classes, each class is one half of my regular 6 hour workshop.
Tsukineko All purpose inks have a broad range of applications for painting fabric. Learn effective shading and blending techniques working with the Fantastix applicator tool in a dry brush method to create original fabric to use in your quilts.
Learn to paint with Tsukineko inks in a more painterly watercolor style using paintbrushes and aloe vera gel to create unique imagery on fabric.
I will also be doing demos of various techniques on the show floor with Unique Stitching throughout the Creative Textiles Show.
This is my ONLY scheduled teaching in Australia for 2014 so don’t miss out on this opportunity! Come paint with me in Canberra! I’d love to see you there. 🙂
